The Screen Industries Research and Training (SIRT) Centre drives creative and technological advances within the screen industries — including film, television, interactive digital media, gaming and virtual/augmented reality — and innovative applications of screen industry technologies within the performing arts and other sectors.
SIRT empowers industry and community partners to advance innovation in storytelling and content creation through leading-edge applied research and customized training to equip professionals with the skills and practical knowledge they need to make an immediate and positive impact on the workforce.
Located at Pinewood Toronto Studios in the heart of Toronto’s film and television studio district, SIRT is a part of Generator and is a research centre of Sheridan.
SIRT is an NSERC-designated Technology Access Centre and an industry leader in applied research and innovation. Using the latest equipment and emerging technology, the Centre engages in research that solves unique technological challenges.

Core Components of Stage 10
Mbody is an open-source, bilingual, applied research project aiming to accelerate the advancement and adoption of generative character animation technologies. It’s led by a diverse team of researchers from four post-secondary applied research centers, and funded by the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The goal is to provide value to both industry and academia by respecting their needs.
